CAMPAIGN WORK
I am the vice president for Until Lolita is Home, and it was an intense rollercoaster of a year, which accompanied a lot of campaign work; there have been many changes: new owners, her fluctuating health, and almost losing her in October.

My highlight was to have my poem read by the vice president of Sacred Lands Conservancy, Raynell Morris, at the Toki: Past & Present, Day of Listening Conference in Miami. As you can imagine, it means the world to me; I will hold this memory in my heart forever.

I was incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to collaborate with the Grammy-nominated band Locos Por Juana. On Dec. 15, Tokitae’s name rang out to an audience of 1,500 people at the Miami Band Shell! Our T-shirts and leaflets spread an anti-captivity message. People gathered to have their photographs taken alongside top Miami artists’ artwork. Such a proud and magical moment!

Overall, it’s been a productive year!
