Although the Friday after Thanksgiving is widely known across the United States and Europe as Black Friday, there is another growing movement taking place on the same day: Worldwide Fur Free Friday.
In 2008 “Fur Free Friday” went global, it became “Worldwide Fur Free Friday” in 2013 thanks to the International Anti-Fur Coalition and is supported by animal rights organisations including Last Chance for Animals and the Humane Society. Global support and growing awareness have highlighted the true face of the fur trade, bringing many important victories, including ground-breaking anti-fur bills. Major fashion brands, including Gucci, Hugo Boss and The Kooples have pledged to go fur-free.
“The fact that anti-fur events are simultaneously taking place around the world is solid proof of global solidarity and a strong stand against the fur industry. It’s our international duty to bring this horrific issue of fur to light.”
