Mexico’s first international conference on the captive dolphin industry. Held by Delfines en Libertad in association with Nuevo Ciclo.

October 2016 saw the world’s leading marine animal experts congregate in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, to discuss and analyse the captive dolphin industry with a focus on Mexico and the Caribbean.

The conference, which took place over two days, is designed to address environmental, animal welfare and social issues related to marine parks and will take a closer look at how the tourist industry addresses these issues.

The conference was held in Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo, which is currently one of the most popular locations in the world to swim with captive dolphins.

The panel of experts presenting at the conference shared the latest scientific and up-to-date research on this issue.

  • Dr Heather Rally Wildlife veterinarian with specific training in marine mammal medicine
